Amanita crenulata Pk. Cap 2.5-5.5cm across, convex then flat with a lined margin; grayish buff, tinged yellow with age; smooth; dotted with pallid cottony volval patches. Gills free or just reaching the stem, crowded; white. Stem 25-70 x9-11 mm, somewhat tapering upward with a large ovoid basal bulb; white; ring delicate becoming evanescent; woolly with volval remnants near the bulb. Flesh white staining slightly yellow. Odor slight. Spores globose to broadly ellipsoid, nonamyloid, 7.9-12.6 x 6.3-11.7µ. Deposit white. Habitat on the ground in mixed woods. Uncommon. Found in northeastern North American. Poisonous. |
